Biography
My journey in Wound Care began in 2011 when I joined Systagenix (Formally Johnson & Johnson), I had a strong background in the business-to-business sales arena leasing capital equipment to SMEs, Systagenix considered this to be an advantage for the speed of their commercialisation plans, initial I was an Acute Territory Manager which later merged to both the Community and Acute Settings. I enjoyed some early success with Silicone Wound Contacts layers and Silver Dressings across the region winning formularies that are still in place today.
In 2014 I joined Urgo Medical as a product specialist and became an expert in Compression Therapy Devices, my territory saw three consecutive years of growth and I was fortunate enough to win 12 new business formularies in both the Acute and Community selling into an NHS Purchasing Consortium, my largest and most successful clinical evaluation was on 47 patients which led to a Silicone Foam Border formulary addition in the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
After extensively studying the market place I quickly realised that the NHS needed to adopt new technologies and devices to help tackle the rising number of wounds in the UK, this led me to Inotec AMD, a Cambridge based Start Up who manufacture a device which delivers Topical Oxygen to wounds, after 12 month I managed to open the first account in the NHS whilst creating and generating local evidence to support the brand, the device is now listed on the NHS Supply Chain Framework and Shared Business Services.
Whilst working with emerging adjunct technologies it became clear that there was an area within standard of care that I needed to develop and upskill myself on, Pressure Redistribution/Offloading the Foot Ulcer. I started working with a German company called OPED who manufacture and distribute an offloading boot specifically for Diabetic Foot Ulcers, I managed to open up several key accounts across the NHS and support the company with Market Access, one of the highlights of this project was getting a New Medicine Recommendation in the Lancashire Medicines Management Group as well as setting up the first Offloading Pathway in the NHS.
After realising that there is a demand for my Sales and Business Development skills in the Wound Care Market, I set up my first joint business venture, Medical Sales Solutions, with my counterpart covering the East of England and me being based in the West, we became an interesting prospect for companies looking to accelerate sales growth, Medical Sales Solutions focusses purely on selling products into the NHS and we now have UK coverage.
Synergy Wound Care has been created to support new and innovative technologies in the Wound Care Arena and we’re really excited to see how we can change the landscape of the NHS in this field.
